Wow, our baby is 2…..

Well, I can hardly believe it, but our baby is 2 years old.

I guess I should first start from the beginning of the weekend, since it was a big weekend.

On Friday morning we did our little Christmas at home, just the 3 of us. Lidia was a little shocked to see all the stuff under the tree when she woke up. She wasn’t sure what to think. She was a quick study with opening presents, though, and whipped through them fast. Her favorite gifts were the tricycle and some play shoes. “Ohh! Shoes!”

We took our time getting around and eventually left the house around 2 or 3 to go to Rapids for the weekend.

We did Christmas on Christmas Eve, then, and did Lidia’s birthday on Christmas Day. During Late morning on Christmas Eve, we went out to the lot where Adam’s parents are building a house. There was plenty of snow there and a little bit of a hill, so we did some sledding, then took a walk with Lidia in the sled. She loved it and when she sees the pictures now, she talks about the snow. Later, we had a nice Christmas Eve dinner and Lidia seemed to have a good time opening her presents.

On Sunday evening, we had kind of an appetizer dinner and some friends of the family came over. Lidia opened her Birthday presents and seemed especially thrilled with her little baby stroller and her Dyson vacuum. She loved the cake and ate quite a lot of it! Needless to say, after that she was a bit wired, so she didn’t go to bed until almost 11. She did sleep in a bit the next morning, though.

We came back on Monday afternoon and basically just recovered from the weekend.

I’m a bit shocked that our baby is 2, though. It is hard to believe! This time last year, we were in Russia anxiously awaiting the time we could take custody of Lidia. She has grown up so much in the last year. She has gone from this tiny thing trying to learn how to walk and talk–to this great big walking talking, potty trained girl who is currently tromping around my kitchen with pretty pink high heeled shoes on.

On the potty training front, I think it is pretty safe to say that Lidia is potty trained. In the past 2 weeks, Lidia has had 4 daytime accidents (actually 2 of them were only 1/2 accidents, as she started to go–stopped it, told me, and then finished in the potty– one was while we were out sledding and there wasn’t even the option to find a bathroom–and 1 was after the huge party day and a ton of sugar and distractions)…Yesterday she also had 1 piddle (not even wet enough to get her pants wet, just undies–she stopped and went to the potty). As far as night-time is concerned, she has woken up dry for 5 out of the last 6 days!!! She’s been in undies for the last 2 weeks and is always dry after nap time. I had been putting a pull up on her when we go out of the house (up until 2 days ago), but she has only had the 1 accident out of the house and that was while sledding. She didn’t even go during any of the 2 hour car rides we took in the past 2 weeks! Needless to say, I am quite proud. I never anticipated she’d be potty trained before she turned 2. It’s all quite exciting–though we have a big box of diapers that we had bought that aren’t being used… I’m still putting one on her at night, but I hate to waste them as she doesn’t seem to be going at night anymore.

At any rate, that is pretty much our weekend. I will start posting some pictures from it soon.
