Oh baby…

Well, I think I mentioned that we were to have an ultrasound on Friday (4/28). We went in as scheduled at 9:15am and did not have to wait long. Lidia was quite interested in all the equipment in the room, but she managed to sit still and quiet for a little while. As the tech was navigating my uterus I saw some dark areas but wasn’t quite sure what I was looking at yet. She membled something about gestational sacs and I asked her to repeat.

“If you can’t tell, there are 2 gestational sacs there,” she said.

“Did you say 2?”, I echoed.

Yes. She showed us.

My legs started shaking and I turned to Adam and grinned. “I told you there were 2,” I said. Yes, typical wife “I told ya so” hehe
Seriously, we knew that 2 was a possibility–and I even told him that I thought there were 2 before we even went in, just based on my how my body was changing so quickly. I didn’t believe it, intellectually, but my heart knew the truth!!

Wow.

We were able to see and hear BOTH heartbeats, so that was a relief, to know they are bothing doing well. She said we were measuring a little behind, but it’s not uncommon for them to be up to a week off in measurements.

I am happy but a little bit scared at the prospect of carrying and birthing 2! Adam, I think, is overwhelmed (but happy). We have plenty of preparations to be making and decisions that will need to be made in the next 7 months or so. Our due date is December 20, but twins are usually a little early, so I won’t be expecting to make it that long. Time will tell! Right now I’m just hoping for a healthy happy pregnancy!

As far as me, I have been having some nausea the past few days, but today has not been as bad. I’m feeling tired often, still, but overall I’m feeling good.

Our 8 week appointment with the OB is May 10th so we will see what happens, then! I am not sure what kind of protocol she’ll use in caring for a twin pregnancy (as far as how often for appointments and how often for ultrasounds and such). We shall see!

Here is a looksee:
